5th Grade Hands-On Equations

The fifth graders are solving algebra equations using pawns and number cubes.  The pawns represent the variable and they place them on a balance which helps them remember to keep each side of the equation equal. They are doing an excellent job understanding some pretty advanced concepts! :)

2nd Grade Painting Day

The 2nd graders are researching endangered animals this year. They have already finished taking notes and making a research booklet so now they are working on projects. Last week, they created a model of their animal using Model Magic and this week they are painting it.  They also created a diorama of their animal's habitat so once the paint is dry, they will add their animal to the diorama.

4th Grade Trip to the Truman Museum

We first watched a video at the museum to learn some background information about Harry S Truman. Then we took a guided tour and learned about his life. We learned how he was raised, the many jobs he had, and how he became President of the United States. He made some pretty big decisions when he was president related to the atomic bombs, Cold War, WWII, and the Korean War. We also saw his gravesite and library.
Exploring life in the 1950s.
The routes Truman traveled during his Whistlestop Campaign.

3rd Grade Harvesters Trip

We went to Harvesters today and watched a video about the mission of Harvesters. We also took a tour of the Harvesters facility.  It is huge!  Then we split into three groups. One group sorted canned food and packed them into boxes. A second group sorted water and soda into boxes. The third group packed a variety of boxed food into boxes and weighed them.  Everyone worked hard and had fun! We definitely worked up an appetite for CiCi's Pizza!

3rd Grade Zoob Challenges

The students completed two Zoob challenges on their own. The first challenge was to make something that would knock a Zoob-man down from 2 feet away. The second challenge was to make the numbers 1-9 using Zoobs. They all did great!
