4th Grade Hallmark Visitors Center/Ice Terrace Trip
We had a wonderful time learning about the history of
Hallmark and exploring the exhibits in the visitors center. Then we ate
lunch in Crown Center. Our next stop was getting laced up in our skates
at the Ice Terrace. Everyone did an excellent job of ice skating! I
was impressed with their skills. J

2nd Grade Trip to Remington Nature Center
We took a trip to Remington Nature
Center in St. Joseph, MO. First, we worked on two scavenger hunts around
the center. Our job was to find 12 hidden cherries and the answers to questions about the exhibits. Then we ate lunch with a beautiful view of
the Missouri River. After lunch, we listened to a presentation about creepy crawly creatures. We looked at specimens of scorpions, insects, snakes, bats, and spiders. Then we made snakes using Play-Doh.

5th Grade World War I Museum Trip
We had a tour of the World War I Museum. It was
an amazing glimpse into our history. We discussed the answers to many questions: Who is to blame for starting WWI? Which soldiers were treated the best? worst? How did WWI impact women in the U.S.?

5th Grade DLR Group Field Trip
What an amazing field trip! We toured the DLR Group’s
offices and learned about how engineers and architects work together to design
buildings. Their specialty is designing K-12 schools, but they also
design hotels, the KC Speedway, sports complexes, etc. The students even
saw how they use the Sketch-Up program to create 3-D models of their
designs. Then the students worked in small groups to design 3 different
rooms of a school and presented them to the group. As we ate pizza,
several of the employees came down and answered the students’ questions.
They talked about what they do each day, the education they needed, and
important skills (communication, meeting deadlines, and working with others)
they need to be successful in their jobs. I think we definitely have some
future architects and engineers in our class! J
