5th Grade Endangered Animal Project
The 5th graders read about a fungus threatening frogs and how loss of habitat is impacting lemurs in Madagascar. The students then chose either the frogs or lemurs to design a method or invention to save them from extinction. The students could work in pairs or individually. Here are some of their ideas:

2nd Grade Trip to Kaleidoscope
We enjoyed all of the freedom to be creative at
Kaleidoscope. Many of the students
focused on making Valentine’s gifts for their family and friends. The favorite activities were making puzzles
and playing in the glow-in-the-dark area.

4th Grade Truman Museum Trip
We learned a lot about history, presidents, politics,
wars, murals, etc. on our trip today. The 33rd president had an eventful life. The students learned so much that
it was hard to write it all down in their reflection journals!

5th Grade: Build the Tallest Tower
The students built the tallest towers using graham
crackers and icing. There were a variety of strategies and designs.
5th Grade: Build the Alphabet
The students worked in pairs to build the entire
alphabet using limited supplies. They also could not communicate through
speaking or writing. It was a very close competition! Two teams
made it to U and one team made it to T.

3rd Grade Harvesters Trip
Today we bagged onions at Harvesters. We were worried that it might be a bit gross, but it was actually pretty fun! We did not end up smelling like onions either! The students (and adults) worked very hard and bagged up lots and lots of onions. Here are some pictures from our trip:

4th Grade Creative Problem Solving: Build the tallest tower
The 4th graders used graham crackers and icing to build the tallest towers. There were many moments of success and moments of collapse. :) They all were persistent and did not become discouraged. They learned a lot from the collapses and ended up making even better structures. :) We talked about how we can learn from our failures.
2nd Grade Dioramas
The second graders have each been researching an endangered animal of their choice this year. They have finished their research and have now started creating projects. Here are some pictures of them working on their dioramas and animal models.
4th Grade Research
Here are some pictures from when the 4th graders were finishing up their research. They worked really hard and used a variety of sources to gather information about a topic of their choice. Then they organized their ideas using an outline to create a research paper.
3rd Grade Engineering: Lego Simple Machines
The students worked in pairs to create different contraptions to experiment with wheels and axles. They specifically explored fixed axles versus separate axles.
5th Grade Trip to Harvesters
The 5th graders traveled to Harvesters to sort bread items. They split into 3 groups: box makers, sorters/packers, and closing/labeling boxes. They worked very hard and boxed thousands of bread items in the two hours we were there.
